  • What is the contribution strategy?
  • Are there distinct classes of employees?
  • Is there a strategy in place or is it dealt with at renewal year by year?
  • If you had a blank board to design a benefit plan, please describe.
  • When was the last time the plans were reviewed?
  • Are you getting financial data from carriers?
  • What is the new hire process? Sample materials?
  • Describe the open enrollment process.
  • Are employee communications designed to support your company’s investment?
  • Who do the employees turn to if there is an issue (ID card, claim, appointment)?
  • Describe COBRA/HIPAA administration.
  • Does the retirement plan have updated investment policy statement?
  • Are you 404(c) compliant?\
  • Are you comfortable with your fiduciary responsibilities in regards to the plan?
  • How are you protecting yourself from personal and corporate liability?
  • Do you feel ready to pass a DOL audit (investments, costs, IPS, training)?
